FAQS
How much space do I need for the massage table?
Ideally there needs to be a large open space with no clutter where I can set up for your treatment. It can be any room, bedroom, living room or kitchen as long as there is enough space. The minimum space needed is around 3m x 3m. The table is roughly the size of large yoga mat and I need to be able to walk around the whole table. If space is limited I may not be able to complete the treatment. If possible choose rooms on the ground floor, I don't mind stairs however they can be tricky to navigate whilst carrying the massage table.
How should I prepare for my booking?
There are a few things you can do make sure your appointment goes smoothly, firstly you should prepare the space. Clear away anything from the floor to ensure an even flat surface for the massage table, then you can light some candles and dim the lights if you wish. If you have a playlist or some music you would like to listen to you can put that on to set the mood. I also require large towels or blankets (ideally 2) to keep you warm and covered so if you have those ready we can get started swiftly. Take jewellery off and make sure your skin is clean and free from oils or lotions.
Is it ok to have pets in the room during the treatment?
I would always recommend that you leave pets in another room during the treatment to avoid disruptions and to help you relax. Animals are often curious about the massage table and someone new being in their space and can damage my equipment by climbing on it or scratching it.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my booking?
You may face a situation where you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, I aim to be as flexible as possible in these instances however I do require minimum 12 hours notice to cancel or reschedule your booking. If you cancel within the 12 hours you will still be charged.
Can I have a massage if I am under 18?
Unfortunately I do not currently offer treatments to under 18s.
Can I split the treatment with someone else?
I only offer minimum 1 hour treatments so unless you book a 2 hour treatment, you cannot split the treatment with anyone else. If you do book 2 hours I will provide 2 x 1 hour treatments.
Will you talk during the massage?
This is totally up to you. I usually encourage clients to just relax and focus on their breath however I am also happy to have a chat if you prefer it.
Will the massage hurt?
It shouldn't! Some clients and even therapists seem to believe 'no pain, no gain'. I like to take a different approach, I certainly can provide firm pressure however I avoid pushing the limits of your pain threshold. Sometimes some areas and techniques can feel uncomfortable specially if it has been a while and you have a lot of tension, however the massage will not feel painful. The aim by the end of the session is to calm your nervous system and get your muscles to relax so causing you pain will not help this.
What should I do if I feel uncomfortable?
You can always let me know if you feel uncomfortable, whether it's too cold or you need to readjust your positioning, the most important thing during the massage is your comfort.
Can I have a massage if I am unwell?
For your own comfort you should not have a treatment if you are feeling unwell, this includes being hungover, having the flu or any other illnesses. If what you have is infectious I will not be able to complete the treatment. Please make sure you fully recover from any illness before you book a treatment to avoid disappointment.
What if I have acne or forgot to shave?
This is not a problem, I have seen many bodies and skin types in my career. All bodies are normal and as long as your skin is clean and free from oils and lotions then there isn't an issue.
Can I use my own products?
In most cases it should be ok to use your own products, however we can discuss this when you have your treatment.
Is there any aftercare?
This can be discussed after your massage however it is always advised that you stay warm, hydrated and rest. Soreness after a massage is normal however you can always let me know you are worried about anything post massage.
Can I have a massage if I am pregnant?
Unfortunately I am not currently qualified to offer pregnancy massage.
